How do I order a doll from you?
I do not offer anything relating to Franklin Mint or their dolls for sale on this site. These pages are for reference and research only, containing pictures of my private collection. Please do not e-mail asking to purchase my collection: it is not for sale.

Let me repeat that - I do not have anything from this collection for sale. This site is a result of my personal collection, which I don't ever plan on selling. If you e-mail asking for a order, catalogue or pricing your e-mail will be deleted without response. I don't mean to be rude, but such requests have become extremely annoying.

Can you help me find "X" doll or outfit for sale?
I am just a collector, now a very out of the loop collector at that, so not really. I bought my collection directly from the Franklin Mint. It's my understanding that the entire collection has be discontinued by the Franklin Mint. You may want to call them to verify that.

Outfits and dolls are frequently offered on E-Bay, so that is a good source for them. Another option is to advertise on the Rose Doll Yahoo group for specific items. There may be someone there with things for sale. Because this collection is discontinued it is truly a collector's item - expect high prices.

What items are in this collection?
The FM Vinyl Rose collection consists of:

Vinyl Doll - (wearing either the Jump, Boarding,Dinner, Tea or Swim Dress)

thirteen outfits

Coeur de la Mer - with replica green Safe

Trunk

Dress Form

Vanity & Chair

There are also two exquisite porcelain dolls of Rose:

Portrait - a porcelain doll in the Flying Dress

"Reunited" - a porcelain doll in the Heaven Gown

What is the next outfit to to released?
All of the outfits have been released as of May 2002. The only two garments missing from the completed collection are the Pink Coat and Cal's Coat. For some reason FM chose not to include these garments in their collection. Here is the list of released outfits in reverse order (latest one first)
Heaven Dress (May 02)
Underpinnings (Apr 02)
Breakfast Gown (Feb 02)
Elevator Dress
Lace Dressing gown
Tea Dress
Kimono
Dinner Dress
Deck Dress
Swimming Dress
Flying Dress
Boarding Suit
Jump Dress (Nov 00)

How accurate are the outfits really?
FM was not allowed access to the original gowns so the doll outfits were made by "picture research" and by contacting seamstresses who had seen the originals on tour (like Jennie Chancey) for their professional advice and opinions. Some of the dresses are wonderfully accurate (like the Jump) and some dismal (like the Elevator). Despite the scale and access difficulties all of the outfits are very pretty though.

How often do you update this site?
Now that the collection is complete, I update these pages once or twice a year or when I have news.

What about the other accessories in the collection?
The only "prop" from the collection that I own is the dress form. It is a great way to display multiple outfits at one time. It is a good value, made of sturdy plastic. My one complaint is that it isn't actually the same size and shape of the doll. The shoulders are much wider and the waist is a bit smaller. This doesn't matter with most of the outfits but a few of them (like the Dinner) simply do not fit.

I have seen the trunk multiple times at a FM store and have not been impressed. I thought it was cheaply made, way over priced and not that pretty. In addition, the trunk was not designed to hold the entire collection so all of the outfits do not fit in it at once.

I have also seen the safe/Coeur de la Mer in person and, again, I was disappointed in the quality. The safe appeared to be pressed cardboard and was cheaply painted. The necklace was is not accurately proportioned.

I have not seen the vanity set in person so I can't really comment on it. I do know that the drawers do not open. I have heard overall good reports of it however.

Feel free to take this info with a grain of salt, naturally. While I love the costumes, I'm not a big fan of the film Titanic, so the props needed to be on the amazing side to have been of interest to me.

May I take/use the pictures on this site?
If you wish to take/use these items here are the rules:

  • You may take any picture you would like for a private image collection - that's what they are here for! If you wish to use the pictures on a personal web page, you must give me credit ("courtesy of Jenny La Fleur";) and link to my site somewhere on your site.

  • You are not permitted to use any of my images on E-bay or for any other commercial use.

  • Please don't claim my photos, ideas or costumes as your own. It's very rude.

  • Please do not link directly to the picture but download it first and upload to your own server. To do otherwise is called hot-linking and it is also very rude.

Have a question? Contact me about it. Want to link to my site? You'll find banners here.

Why did you buy this doll?
I bought the doll because she was lovely (and I have a weakness for dolls in general) but also because I thought the miniature outfits would be helpful in making life-size re-creations for myself. You will see a lot of notes and pictures of how the outfits were constructed on my pages because of this.

Thanks and Credits:
These pages would not be here if it wasn't for the help and support of my family and friends. Special thanks to dear Jennie Chancey, for giving me a model site to emulate, fueling my passion for Titanic clothes and for answering my many Titanic questions - merci!

Also thanks to the Ladies of the S&S Message Board who have always been encouraging and helpful. I can't leave out the members of the Yahoo FM Rose Doll Group for all their help and encouragement as well. Big thanks to Ellen for giving me the idea and encouragement to create the Jewelry and Accessory Indexes.
